All ratings, whether book or movie, are based on a 5-star rating system.
- 1 Star = Atrocious and should be forgotten immediately; books I couldn’t finish instantly land here
- 2 Stars = Made it through, but I’m not happy about it; plot holes, terrible characters, minimal redeeming qualities
- 3 Stars = Liked it well enough but will probably forget most of what I read/saw in a short amount of time
- 4 Stars = Really enjoyed the story and any flaws are minimal
- 5 Stars = Pure perfection; a timeless story I will likely revisit
For whatever reason, I don’t tend to give books half-stars. Perhaps I’ll change that in the future? But movies often find some gray area between two of these categories.
